Jack is here!
We delivered Jack on December 27, 2019 (yay for having him in 2019!!!!) at 38 weeks and 2 days.
He was 6lbs and 0oz, 19.5 inches long. An itty bitty thing.
Jim cut the cord, and I was so proud of him for not being squeamish, or passing out.
On the first day in the hospital, we found out that Jack is Coombs positive. Further testing was done to check for jaundice and anemia. On the 2nd day, we found out he was jaundice. They put him under lights, and we were only allowed to take him out to feed and change him. 30 minutes at a time max. So basically, we couldn't hold our little boy. It sucked, not gonna lie. Obviously glad they treated him quickly for the Jaundice, and it cleared up before we were released from the hospital on the 30th of December. We have been home now about 5 days, and each day gets easier with our new routine of feeding, changing diapers, and sleeping. Jack had his 1 week doctor appointment yesterday, and did great! He was weighed in at 5 lbs and 15 oz, so is almost back right at his birth weight in just a week. He is eating well, and sleeping really well too. He is such a calm baby, unless he is hungry. Even then, his yells are kind of cute. He goes back for his 1 month check up on January the 24th, and I cannot wait to take him to see how much bigger he gets.
None of his newborn clothes fit him, they are all too big. All of the newborn diapers are also pretty big on him, too! Jim and his family just went to the grocery store for food, and I am having them pick up preemie diapers for Jack to see if they will fit a little better.
Besides bragging about my little Jack, I have to say that Jim has been such an amazing man. He is the best father I could ever ask for my child. The entire time we were in the hospital, I didn't even change a diaper. Not to mention the fact that since we have been home, Jim has been 100% involved in caring for our little boy. It makes me fall in love with him all over again, and in a more deep way that I could never have expected to feel ever in my life. I am forever grateful to have him by my side raising Jack in the best way we know how (which is totally winging it, and google, and advise from the Dr. and family and friends!)
That is all for now.
